The CHIME/FRB Collaboration reports the detection of a radio burst from the direction of the known Galactic magnetar SGR 1935+2154, which is currently in an active state (GCNs #32675, #32698, #32706, #32708, #32737, and ATels #15667, #15672, #15674). This event occurred at 2022-10-14 19:21:47 UTC (topocentric time at 400 MHz), and it was detected in multiple beams. Of the beams where a detection was registered, the highest signal-to-noise ratio was 11.4. The DM determined by the real-time CHIME/FRB pipeline was 332.8 +/- 0.4 pc/cm^3, consistent with past DM measurements of this source (CHIME/FRB Collaboration 2020, Nature, 587, 54).

The source was 98.6 degrees east of CHIME's meridian, indicating a far side-lobe detection, consistent with the notched frequency structure observed in the dynamic spectrum. However, the preliminary sky localization of the source is consistent with the previous detected position of SGR 1935+2154. The CHIME beam is not well determined so far off-axis, but a preliminary rough estimate of a lower limit on the source fluence is 20 kJy ms at 600 MHz.

Determination of a refined arrival time, DM, sky location, and fluence of the event is in progress.

We strongly encourage additional observations at all wavelengths.
