Ally and Lucy drop by Fiona's house
Alley: C'mon, Fiona. This is the third time this week you've said no to shopping.
Fiona: Oh girls. It's just terrible. We paid our annual health insurance bill this week.
Alley: Oh, now I get it.
Fiona: [Crying] The insurance was a hundred forty thousand for the year. And we're still paying off our US trip.
Alley: What did you do? Buy insurance for the whole world?
Fiona: Why...? Is a hundred forty thousand high?

Can you give me a discount?

Can you give me a discount?"

A:How much is this?
B:Only one thousand four hundred and eighty dollars.
A:Can you give me a discount?
B:I can give you a 20% discount?
A:Can't you make it eight hundred dollars?
B:No, I'm sorry. Well, maybe I can give you a 30% discount.

Could you come down a little? / Could you cut the price a little?(价钱可以减一点么?)

,That's a little steep / stiff.(价钱高了一点)等,然后讲出自己愿意付的价钱,例如:I can't give you more than $400.(我最多只给你四百元。) He had to pay a steep / stiff price for his carelessness.(他由于大意,得付出沉重的代价。)

I didn't realize that the grocer had been robbing me.(我当时不知道那杂货商一直在敲我竹杠。) My, that's sheer robbery!(哎啊,这简直是抢劫!)My作感叹词用,是‘哎啊’的意思。

或We don't give discounts.(我们不打折扣。) I'll bring the price down to $300. That's the best we can do.(可以减到三百元,不能再减了。)
