1. 本文讨论的问题是对web service composition进行role mining以获得minimal role set.

2. 几个基本概念(S1)
role engineering: "the process of defining a good, complete, and accurate role system.
role engineering可分为top-down和bottom-up两种, bottom-up role engineering方法即role mining.
RBAC模型是上世纪90年代出现的, Vaidya07的论文中给出了role mining problem的形式化定义, 因此role mining还是比较新的东西.
