Alibaba Cloud Content Delivery Network (CDN) is a distributed network built over the bearer network and contains edge nodes deployed in different regions. Alibaba Cloud CDN offloads network traffic from origin servers to prevent network congestion. You can use Alibaba Cloud CDN to accelerate website content delivery in different regions or scenarios.

 

Alibaba Cloud CDN retrieves resources from origin servers and caches the resources on CDN nodes deployed across the world. When clients request the resources, the requests do not need to be redirected to the origin servers. Instead, Alibaba Cloud CDN automatically retrieves the resources cached on the CDN nodes closest to the clients and returns the resources to the clients.

 

 Alibaba Cloud Content Delivery Network (CDN) caches contents at physical nodes, then strategically delivers them to end users from the nearest node.

Alibaba Cloud Content Delivery Network (CDN) has more than 2,800 nodes deployed across the world. More than 2,300 nodes are deployed across 31 provincial regions in mainland China. Among these nodes, a large number of them are deployed in first-tier cities and provincial capitals. More than 500 nodes are deployed across 70 countries and regions outside Mainland China, including China (Hong Kong), China (Macao), and China (Taiwan).

If you want to use Alibaba Cloud Content Delivery Network (CDN) to accelerate the delivery of content on a specified website, specify the website as the origin server. Then, add the domain name that you want to accelerate to Alibaba Cloud CDN. Alibaba Cloud CDN retrieves resources from the origin server and caches them on CDN nodes. This allows users to retrieve the resources from the nearest CDN nodes. After you add the domain name to Alibaba Cloud CDN, the system pushes the configuration of the domain name to all CDN nodes without affecting services of the domain name.

After you activate Alibaba Cloud CDN, you can log on to the Alibaba Cloud CDN console and add a domain name to Alibaba Cloud CDN. Alibaba Cloud CDN then assigns a canonical name (CNAME) to the domain name. You must configure a CNAME record to map the domain name to the CNAME. After the CNAME record takes effect, Alibaba Cloud CDN can accelerate content delivery for the domain name.
