System Requirements:

• MapXtreme 2005 v6.6 Beta 1 Trial -Tested on the following operating systems.
  • Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2)
• Additional software requirement include:
  
  • MDAC 2.8
  • IIS 5.0 or IIS 6.0
  • VS Studio 2005
  • Microsoft Windows .NET Framework 2.0
    

  Note: MapXtreme 2005 v6.6 Beta 1 does not support Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows NT.  (Page Last Updated April 03, 2006.)
  

Limitations:

Visual Studio 2005 and Microsoft Windows 2.0 Framework has to be already installed. User will be prompted and installation aborted if  Visual Studio 2005 is not installed. (Visual Studio 2003 not supported)

There is only one desktop and one web Visual Studio 2005 project template (in both vb and c#).

Online Help and Dev Guide are not integrated into Visual Studio.

This beta does not include MSM's so the only deployment option is to use the runtime installer. See chapter 2 in the dev guide for details.

Side by side installation with MapXtreme v6.5 not supported.

Desktop

Error during shutdown after opening an MS Access format MapInfo table.

WebTemplates & Web Tools

When using pooling in a web application, and session state is set to HttpSessionState, after the session times out you will get an error on the next request.

The web templates do not correctly set the startup page. After you create a new web template from either VB or C# you need to right click the MapForm.aspx in the solution explorer and select "Set as Start Page"

The Pan tool offsets the image while it drags the image. The actual pan coordinates are correct but the visual effect is wrong.

The zoom tool displays a pixel offset from the pick point but the final zoom is correct.

File system Web Sites not currently supported for MapXtreme web controls and tools due to inability of the local asp.net development server to access other vitual directories, especially virtual directory "MapXtremeWebResources 6_5"

Installation instructions:

1. Uninstall v6.5 if already installed on your system.
2. Create a temporary directory on your hard drive such as c:\TEMP
3. Download the file MapXtremeTRIAL.exe to the temporary directory created in step 1.
4. To install the Trial, run the file MapXtremeTRIAL.exe downloaded in step 2.
5. Download the file sampledata.exe to the temporary directory created in step 1.
6. Run the sampledata.exe downloaded in step 4. This willl extract the sample data install files to your temp directory.
7. To install the sample data, run the Setup.exe.
8. The MapXtreme 2005 v6.6 Beta 1 Trial and Sample Data are now installed on your system.
