Description

Hi, I regularly don't need the menubar so I have hidden it using:

VBoxManage setextradata global GUI/Customizations noMenuBar,noStatusBar

Now, every now and then I need to access the shared folders gui, for example.

I'd like to have a key combination that let's me access it exactly like in Full Screen mode I can use Right-CTRL + Home and the menu appears supperimposed.

Can you activate this function while in windowed mode with the menu bar hidden please?

Top Menu Bar does NOT disable in full screen

When running in full-screen mode, and the mouse is moved to the top of the screen, a menu bar drops down and covers the top of my work area.

For example. You try to click on a browser tab but instead the menu bar just drops itself right overtop and you end up clicking on the menu instead. This makes Virtualbox at the very least, annoying, at the most unusable for any serious work flow.  

I have found posts complaining of this issue 5 years old. I cannot comprehend how or why something this simple, and this annoying, would not have been corrected by now.

Details..

VirtualBox version 4.3.2
Host Machine MAC Book with OSX 10.8.5
Guest OS Windows 7


When I open VirtualBox > Preferences > General ..
uncheck the box.. Dock and Menubar (auto show in full screen)
Restart Virtual Box

Nothing happens. The top menu bar continues to show in full screen when the mouse is moved to the top.

You can disable the menu bar (at least in version 4.0+, dont know about the others).

No need to shut down the virtual machine first. Go to the settings of the machine. In "General" on the "Advanced" tab you can select: "Show in Fullscreen/Seamless" and there's an option to "Show At Top Of Screen":

For the setting to take effect you may have to exit and return to fullscreen/seemless mode.
