Dragon Boat Festival

The aroma of glutinous rice and bamboo leaves fills the air as families across Chinaprepareto celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival by making zongzi. Interestingly, the taste of zongzi varies between northern and southern China. Most people in the north eat sweet Zongzi, such as Zongzi stuffed with sweet dates, while most people in the south eat salty Zongzi, such as meat zongzi. This is not the same as the traditional taste difference between the north and south, because the traditional taste difference is that the north eats salty food while the south eats sweet food.
As we all know,Dragon Boat Festival is held on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month and it was established in memory of Qu Yuan. It is said that he committed suicide by jumping into the Miluo River during the Dragon Boat Festival. So in addition to making Zongzi, there are many kinds of Dragon Boat Festival activities. People will put mugwort in their homes, symbolizing warding off evil spirits. In addition, Dragon Boat rowing is also a very important custom. In ancient times, Dragon Boat rowing was to offer sacrifices to the river god, expressing people's wishes for good weather.Today, cities across the country will hold Dragon Boat races on Dragon Boat Festival, not only to pray for good weather and commemorate Qu Yuan, but also to let the culture of Dragon Boat Festival continue.
I eagerly await my mother's delicious salty egg yolk meat zongzi,a family favorite that brings us all together each year. And in our place, we can eat many special foods on the Dragon Boat Festival, such as green rice balls and fried rice balls. We also have a custom. On the morning of Dragon Boat Festival, we need to eat Salted duck egg, Zongzi, and steamed stuffed buns. We need to make a pious wish to the Bodhisattva and hope that the Bodhisattva will bless us in the coming year. And after dinner, we may go to the river to watch the Dragon Boat race and cheer them on.
