The World Food Day

今天(10月16日)是世界粮食日，这一天也是联合国粮食及农业组织(粮农组织)在1945年成立
的日子，比利时是该组织创始成员之一。粮农组织设立这一天为了提高人们对饥饿问题的认
识并采取行动。因此，在这一天，世界各地将举行许多活动，将政府、企业、公众和媒体聚
集在一起。

Today is World Food Day, which takes place on 16 October each year as it coincides (两件或更多的事情同时发生（coincide 的第三人称单数）)
with the date of the founding in 1945 of the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO),
of which Belgium is a founding memeber . This day was estabished by the FAO to promote（
v. 促进，提倡；升职，晋升；促销，推广； 将（运动队）晋级；使（学生）升年级；负责筹办，主办（大型活动，如音乐会或体育比赛）；促使（议会私法议案）通过；使（卒）升格为（尤指后等）；<英>（先打大牌）使（小牌）赢得一墩；使（催化剂）更活泼）
awareness and action for those sufering from hunger . Hence why, during this day, a lot of
events and activities will take place around the world,bringing together
governments, businesses, the public and the media.

今年世界粮食日的主题是“不让任何人掉队”。根据粮农组织的说法，粮食供应商并不是我们目前面临
的主要问题，因为世界上已经生产了足够的粮食供所有人食用。然而，真正的挑战是有效地获得和利
用有营养的食物，特别是由于包括疫情、社会冲突、气候变化、社会不平等、通货膨胀和国际紧张局势
等多重挑战，这变得更加困难。遭受这些后果最严重的是那些住在农村地区的所谓的“极端贫困”的人，
因为他们对人为和自然灾害更加敏感，而且往往因为性别或种族而被边缘化。

Leave NO ONE Behind

This year the World Food Day's theme is ‘Leave NO ONE behind’. According to the FAO, food supply
is not the main issue we currently face, since enough food for everyone in the world is already being
produced(v. 产生；制造；创作（produce 的过去式和过去分词）).However,the real challenge is access
to and avaliability of nutritious food, especially since this has become more difficult due to multiple
challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic, social conflicts, climate change, inequality, rising prices
and international tensions. Those who suffer these consequences the most are those classified as
'extreme poor' who live in rural areas, as they are more sensitive to human-made and natural disasters,
and are often marginalized due to gender or ethnic origin.

Global Solutions

In order to tackle such global crises and support these marginalized groups,
global solutions must be put forward. According to the FAO, this includes
focusing on better production, better nutrition, transforming agrifood systems
and implementing sustainable and holistic solutions that consider development
in the long term, inclusive economic growth, and greater resilience. To realize
this, collaboration between government, the private sector, academia, civil society and individuals is of vital importance.

比利时赞同粮农组织的愿景。因此，比利时希望在其发展项目中对农业和营养
给予额外关注。比利时还通过粮农组织应急基金SFERA等倡议，将其部分人道
主义援助用于提高弱势群体的粮食安全。比利时已经在马里、塞拉利昂、海地
和津巴布韦等地参与了此类项目，并计划扩大其规模。

Food Security

Beigium shares the FAO's vision. Therefore, Belgium wants to give extra
attention to agriculture and nutrition in its development projects. It has
also deployed part of its humanitarian aid to increase the food security
of vulnerable groups,through initiatives such as the FAO emergency fund
SFERA. Belgium has already participated in such initiatives in Mali,Sierra
Leone,Haiti and Zimbabwe, among others, and plans to expand its efforts.
