WordNet2.1 Browser功能

一、界面

 

从界面中可以看出,有“Noun”和“Verb”两个按钮,分别用于搜索词的名词词性和动词词性的相关的信息。



二、Noun词性



 

当选择Noun按钮时,可选菜单项有:Synonyms(同义词,按照相似频度排序)、Antonyms(反义词)、Coordinate Terms(并列词条)、Hypernyms(超类、父类词条)、Hyponyms(其子类,分有brief、full),Meronyms(局部关系图)、Derivationallyrelated forms(源发关系组织)、Familiarity(近亲词)。

下面以“love”为例子。

1.      Synonyms:

Sense 1

love -- (a strong positive emotion of regard and affection; "his love for his work"; "children need a lot of love")

        => emotion -- (any strong feeling)

 

Sense 2

love, passion -- (any object of warm affection or devotion; "the theater was her first love"; "he has a passion for cock fighting";)

        => object -- (the focus of cognitions or feelings; "objects of thought"; "the object of my affection")

 

Sense 3

beloved, dear, dearest, loved one, honey, love -- (a beloved person; used as terms of endearment)

        => lover -- (a person who loves or is loved)

 

Sense 4

love, sexual love, erotic love -- (a deep feeling of sexual desire and attraction; "their love left them indifferent to their surroundings"; "she was his first love")

        => sexual desire, eros, concupiscence, physical attraction -- (a desire for sexual intimacy)

 

Sense 5

love -- (a score of zero in tennis or squash; "it was 40 love")

        => score -- (a number that expresses the accomplishment of a team or an individual in a game or contest; "the score was 7 to 0")

 

2.      Antonyms:

Sense 1

love -- (a strong positive emotion of regard and affection; "his love for his work"; "children need a lot of love")

        Antonym of hate (Sense 1)

       =>hate, hatred -- (the emotion of hate; a feeling of dislike so strong that it demands action)

 

3.Hypernyms:

Sense 1

love -- (a strong positive emotion of regard and affection; "his love for his work"; "children need a lot of love")

        => emotion -- (any strong feeling)

            => feeling -- (the experiencing of affective and emotional states; "she had a feeling of euphoria"; "he had terrible feelings of guilt"; "I disliked him and the feeling was mutual")

               => state -- (the way something is with respect to its main attributes; "the current state of knowledge"; "his state of health"; "in a weak financial state")

                   => attribute -- (an abstraction belonging to or characteristic of an entity)

                       => abstraction -- (a general concept formed by extracting common features from specific examples)

                           => abstract entity -- (an entity that exists only abstractly)

                               => entity -- (that which is perceived or known or inferred to have its own distinct existence (living or nonliving))

 

Sense 2

            => content, cognitive content, mental object -- (the sum or range of what has been perceived, discovered, or learned)

                       => abstraction -- (a general concept formed by extracting common features from specific examples)

                           => abstract entity -- (an entity that exists only abstractly)

                               => entity -- (that which is perceived or known or inferred to have its own distinct existence (living or nonliving))

4.Meronyms:

Sense 3

beloved, dear, dearest, loved one, honey, love -- (a beloved person; used as terms of endearment)

     => lover -- (a person who loves or is loved)

         => person, individual, someone, somebody, mortal, soul -- (a human being; "there was too much for one person to do")

              HAS PART: personality -- (the complex of all the attributes--behavioral, temperamental, emotional and mental--that characterize a unique individual; "their different reactions reflected their very different personalities"; "it is his nature to help others")

                  HAS PART: trait -- (a distinguishing feature of your personal nature)

                  HAS PART: character, fiber, fibre -- (the inherent complex of attributes that determine a persons moral and ethical actions and reactions; "education has for its object the formation of character"- Herbert Spencer)

                      HAS PART: thoughtfulness -- (the trait of thinking carefully before acting)

                      HAS PART: responsibility, responsibleness -- (a form of trustworthiness; the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct; "he holds a position of great responsibility")

三、Verb



 

如上图,有许多可选项菜单,其使用的意图大部分与Noun下是一样的。只有SentenceFrames是一个特例。那么SentenceFrames指该词一般出现在怎么样的语境中,如:

Sense 1

love -- (have a great affection or liking for; "I love French food"; "She loves her boss and works hard for him")

           *> Somebody ----s somebody

 

Sense 2

love, enjoy -- (get pleasure from; "I love cooking")

           EX:  They love him to write the letter

 

Sense 3

love -- (be enamored or in love with; "She loves her husband deeply")

           EX:  Sam cannot love Sue 

 

Sense 4

roll in the hay, love, make out, make love, sleep with, get laid, have sex, know, do it, be intimate, have intercourse, have it away, have it off, screw, fuck, jazz, eff, hump, lie with, bed, have a go at it, bang, get it on, bonk -- (have sexual intercourse with; "This student sleeps with everyone in her dorm"; "Adam knew Eve"; "Were you ever intimate with this man?")
