Create your own toolbox

  • Create a catalog om your M:\ home directory, call it "toolbox"
  • Set the correct toolbox environment: In ArcMap toolbar, ->tools->options, select "geoprocessing tab" and change "my toolboxes" to your new directory (see right fig)
  • Create your toolbox: right-click in toolbox window, select new, type a name for your toolbox (see below).

Create a new model

  • Right-click at the toolbox you created, select ->new ->model.
  • A new windows apears. Here you can create and modify your model. Add new elements by pulling them from the toolbox.
  • Next time you want to modify or look at your model, right-click at your model-icon and select "edit"

Example of a small model

In this example all cells with slope greater than 30 in a slope-grid are selected.

  • In the toolbox, select spatial analyst tool->conditional->con
  • Pull the "con" into the model
  • Double click at the con-square, fill out the form (see right fig)
  • Coloured model components indicates that parameters are set.
  • Run the model by model->run
  • Shaded model components indicates that they have been run
  • You can now add the new grid to your ArcMap project
