Eileen GU, an 18-year-old California-born Freestyle skier, has received overwhelming praise and admiration in China; not only as a sporting superstar but also as a “genius” and a “top student” on account of her admission to prestigious Stanford University. and works as a supermodel along with being a champion skier.

She also speaks fluent Mandarin.  im not surprised because she goes back in beijing most summers of her life for visiting relatives and friends in Beijing as well as  for math tutoring

she believed that ten days of Chinese math class is equivalent to one year of American math class.    Apparently this worked & Eileen aced all her math in the US

Many Chinese parents are known for obsessively trying to raise the perfect child and doing everything possible to ensure their admission into an elite university.

and she is the quintessential product of chinese "tiger parenting"

there have been numerous articles examining how Gu’s mother raised her.

Many bloggers have recently posted articles titled  “how to become a woman like Gu’s mother,” in which they urge parents to encourage their kids more, or push themselves to be more like the senior Gu, so they can offer their children more. That’s easier said than done.

谷爱凌的成功靠的仅不仅是天赋,更多是普通人无法企及的富有。

Gu’s pathway to success was paved not only with talent, but also with privileges that they can’t possibly match.

不是所有父母都可以给孩子这样优秀的基因和起跑线的。

not every family can offer kids such superb genes and a starting line as Gu,

她的妈妈北大,然后去了stanford,wall street风投公司,谷爱凌3岁就开始学滑雪,谷燕自己就是滑雪教练

Gu yan came from an elite family and studied at the prestigious Peking University,  got an MBA from Stanford and now working in venture capital,

Gu ailing was just three when she was first taken skiing in the US by her mother, who herself was a part-time ski instructor at a time when few Chinese were proficient in winter sports.

many people wonder Did Eileen Gu give up her U.S. citizenship to compete for China?
Probably. Eileen has never publicly confirmed that she gave up her U.S. citizenship, . However, the International Olympic Committee requires athletes to hold passports for the countries they represent, and China does not recognize dual citizenship. although there are people secretly holding two passports. you never know. and it's unlikely that the government would make an exception for even an Olympic athlete
