Online services such as America Online provide a very convenient way to use Internet resources. These services have their own software that makes accessing Internet resources such as Telnet and FTP easy. They also allow you to use your own Telnet, FTP, newsgroup reader, or other software instead of theirs. Using these resources, you can browse the World Wide Web, either with their own proprietary web browser or by using any other web browser. Finally, some services let you use special software required to access Internet resources such as Internet Relay Chat (IRC).
