ILOM 5.0.x版本，升级ILOM固件

某Exadata客户，其中一台X8M-2需要对存储节点升级ILOM固件，结果遇到一点小故障，记录之。

1、手动升级ILOM固件，有两种升级方式。可以在ILOM的Web界面进行升级，也可以在ILOM的命令行中升级。

Web界面升级的主要步骤：Maintenance --> Firmware Update..

ILOM命令行升级的主要步骤：load -source protocol://username:password@server_ip/<path_to_image>/<image.pkg>

 

2、本次选择使用Web界面升级。加载完ILOM的pkg升级包后，按照默认的选项，点击Start Update。

 

3、升级到最后阶段，竟然出现The power will be forced OFF.然后升级失败。提示：Flash update failed. Please check image and try again.

 

4、此时，主机竟然自动关机了。这也太不合理了，只是升级一个ILOM，主机怎么就关机了，问了问硬件的同事，建议再升级一次试试，发现还是相同的错误。

 

5、没办法，只能看看ILOM 5.0的官方手册了。在官方手册中，有如下描述：

In the Firmware Verification page, enable the applicable options:

l  Preserve Configuration – Enable this option to save and restore the existing Oracle ILOM firmware settings after the firmware update is complete. For further details about this option, see “Preserve Oracle ILOM Configuration ” on page 291.

l  Preserve BIOS Configuration (x86 server SPs only) - Enable this option to save and restore existing BIOS configurations after the update process is complete. This option is not supported on all x86 servers. Therefore, if this option is not presented, Oracle ILOM restores the default BIOS settings after completing the upgrade process.

l  Delay BIOS Upgrade (x86 server SPs only) – Enable this option to postpone the x86 BIOS upgrade until after the next time the system is power-cycled.

Preserve BIOS Configuration(x86 server SPs only)，This option is not supported on all x86 servers, 这说明这个选项并不是所有的x86服务器都支持。难道是这个问题？

 

6、尝试再次升级ILOM，但此时只选择Preserve Configuration 和 Delay BIOS Upgrade(x86 server SPs only),这两个选项，此时ILOM升级成功，没有任何报错。

 

7、手动关闭主机的操作系统，此时会完成BIOS部分的升级工作。等BIOS部分升级完成，主机才可以正常开机。
