A Converged Fabric for Application Clusters
Designed to provide InfiniBand and Ethernet services for application clusters comprised of Oracle's Sun blade and rackmount servers and Oracle's Sun storage, the Sun Network QDR InfiniBand Gateway Switch carries all data, storage, and communications traffic over a converged I/O infrastructure. Customers can now deploy application clusters that exploit the advantages of InfiniBand's ultra-low latency and extreme bandwidth while maintaining their existing enterprise network administration tools. Oracle's Sun Network QDR InfiniBand Gateway switch aggregates multiple dedicated and single-purpose networks to reduce deployment costs and simplify enterprise datacenter operations.
- Enables InfiniBand and Ethernet services to be delivered over a single 40Gbps converged fabric
- Transparent to applications, operating systems, and local area networks (LANs)
- Interoperable with existing datacenter Ethernet network infrastructure and tools
- Minimizes the cost of building and operating scalable systems by reducing the number of adapters, cables, and switches to install, manage, and maintain
- Ideal for network infrastructures requiring high availability
- InfiniBand switch and Ethernet gateway combined in 1U form factor
- Thirty-two switched 40Gbps (QDR) InfiniBand ports
- Eight 10Gb Ethernet ports provide virtualized LAN connectivity to InfiniBand servers
- Embedded management module for fabric configuration and I/O provisioning
- Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager (Oracle ILOM)
