Almost everyone emailed us with a shock to know the fact Nikon discontinued many lenses, cameras, flashes, and accessories in past six months. Do not be alerted because many leading retailers, such as B&H, Adorama, Samy's, Ritz / Wolf Camera, KEH, Berger's Brothers, J&R Electrics, etc. etc. (any NAD's, aka Nikon Authorized Dealers) still have most of the lenses, flashes, and accessories in stock but it is now a "fixed" stock – they won't get any more shipments from Nikon warehouse in Japan. When it runs out, that's it, no more.

Some people asked us if we know anything coming from Nikon at this very moment... All we know is Nikon is expecting to release about 2-3 lenses, 1-2 flashes, and a new lower grade camera body this year, it may vary, depending on the economy and Nikon's marketing rates. No, there won't be a "D700X" at all. These discontinued prime lenses are back on the designing table for new replacements but it will take quite a while.
If you want one or more of these discontinued items, I recommend you to go for a visit to www.keh.com because that store is the biggest photographers and videographers' "thrift store" that have buttloads of used cameras, lenses, accessories, and flashes in all conditions (from brand new to ugly - for repairing purposes only). Cameras in "bargain" condition from KEH are near mint.
A short story, Cameron bought a Nikon F3H (a high speed 35mm SLR that can do 13 frames per second without moving the shutter mirror and opening / closing the lens' aperture blades) in bargain condition ($272.00 on KEH) and it looks like someone never touched or used it, brand new and not a scratch on the body. If you find a F3H in mint condition on E-bay, they would be much higher than about $3,000 for the body and MD-4H Motor Drive alone. Crazy, huh?
Always trust KEH, Adorama, B&H, or Samy's used departments or you can buy / sell your item on www.craigslist.com where it lets you meet the buyer / seller in person so you can get your hands on the item(s) to inspect and test drive before buying. Always avoid E-bay at all costs.
