drupal sn: Heartbeat
Heartbeat
In short
Heartbeat displays user activity on a website. This module fungates as API to log message structures, attributes and variables. Once they exist in the database the streams are build from messages templates.
Logging
Each module can log their own activity streams. This could be done by calling the api functions or by rules. This implicates that other modules, using the rules ui, can be interesting for Heartbeat if activity is defined. Great modules that handle user relations like organic groups and friendlist describe rule events.
Display
The displays are very customizable depending on its context or by global configuration.
The contexts are known within heartbeat as access types and determine which users are allowed to see a message. Each message can have a number of attachments such as commenting or flags.
Features
- Heartbeat logs activity for nodes, comments, users/profiles, friends(friendlist) or even organic group activity
- Integration module for flags, so each activity stream item can have a number of flags as message attachment.
- shout submodule to shout a message like twitter or facebook's "What are you doing", and to allow commenting
- views row plugin that can be used to build your own views with additional heartbeat message grouping. Depending on the access type filter, the same contexts are used as the default heartbeat pages and blocks.
