Installing Openproj on Ubuntu

From http://wyj.zhuwo.info/2011/02/installing-openproj-on-ubuntu-zz/

  1. Download openproj-1.4-2.noarch.rpm from http://sourceforge.net/projects/openproj/
  2. sudo apt-get install alien
  3. sudo alien openproj-1.4-2.noarch.rpm
  4. sudo dpkg -i openproj-1.4-2_all.deb

Note:

1. If we install using rpm -ivh openproj-1.4-2.noarch.rpm, there will be an error:

 

rpm: RPM should not be used directly install RPM packages, use Alien instead!

 

rpm: However assuming you know what you are doing...

 

error: Failed dependencies:

 

/bin/bash is needed by openproj-1.4-2.noarch

 

/bin/sh is needed by openproj-1.4-2.noarch

 

desktop-file-utils is needed by openproj-1.4-2.noarch

 

jre >= 1.5.0 is needed by openproj-1.4-2.noarch

 

shared-mime-info is needed by openproj-1.4-2.noarch

 

2. openproj-1.4-2_all.deb(file ending with .deb can be installed by double click)
