Problem Balanced Binary Tree

Problem Description:

Given a binary tree, determine if it is height-balanced.

For this problem, a height-balanced binary tree is defined as a binary tree in which the depth of the two subtrees of every node never differ by more than 1.

Solution:

    public boolean isBalanced(TreeNode root) {
        int[] height = new int[1];
        return isBalancedWithHeight(root, height);
    }

    public boolean isBalancedWithHeight(TreeNode root, int[] height) {
int[] lh = new int[1];
        int[] rh = new int[1];
        boolean l,r;

        if (root == null) {
            height[0] = 0;
            return true;
        }

        l = isBalancedWithHeight(root.left, lh);
        r = isBalancedWithHeight(root.right, rh);

        height[0] = ((lh[0] > rh[0])? lh[0] : rh[0]) + 1;

        return (Math.abs(lh[0]-rh[0]) < 2) && l && r;
    }
