Install latest git on CentOS 6/7
Assuming you have sudo/root permission.
Try rpmforge-extras first.
yum --disablerepo=base,updates --enablerepo=rpmforge-extras install git
If you did not have rpmforge-extras, try manual installation.
yum install curl-devel expat-devel gettext-devel openssl-devel zlib-devel gcc perl-ExtUtils-MakeMaker wget --no-check-certificate https://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/git-2.12.2.tar.gz # you can refer to https://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/ to see what is the latest version. tar -xzvf git-2.12.2.tar.gz cd git-2.12.2 make sudo make install
