Project Management in R&D (P35) part 1
3.1 Create project types (t-code OPSO) Y55K917829
3.2 Define Parameters for WBS Scheduling
When the work breakdown structure (WBS) is scheduled, the system calculates the scheduled start and finish of the activities of the WBS elements, their capacity requirements as well as the float times. The profile for WBS scheduling, for example, contains whether the dates are to be recalculated automatically when saving etc. The profile for WBS scheduling is stored in the project profile.
Scheduling method
WBS determines dates: In the case of forwards scheduling the earliest start date of the activities (or in the case of backwards scheduling the latest finish date) is determined by the basic dates of the WBS elements to which the activities are assigned.
Network determines dates: In the case of forwards scheduling the earliest start date of the activities (or for backwards scheduling the latest finish date) is determined by the basic dates of the network header.
Schedule during saving
With this indicator you specifa that scheduling is always carried out when you save the network or the order.
Use: If you do not maintain the indicator and make a change relevant to scheduling in the order or network, the system gives the order or network the status "Dates are not updated" (NTUP) when you save.
Dependencies: If you do not maintain the indicator, the system will still update the capacity requirements if you make changes in the order or network. You can override the indicator in the order or network.
3.3 Specify Graphics Profile for WBS Date Scheduling
The purpose of this activity is to specify graphics profile for WBS scheduling. In the time scheduling profile, you enter parameters for the display and the colored indicators of WBS elements and activities in the hierarchy graphic. The colored indicators are only displayed in the hierarchy graphic if you have chosen the extended display.
3.4 Maintain Budget Profile for Projects (t-code OSP9)
M: Standard translation at average rate
Activation type 1: Automatic activation during budget allocation
Overall Indicator:
3.5 Define Tolerance Limits
The purpose of thisactivity is to define tolerance limits for availability control. The Availability control can identify budget overruns in aproject at an early stage and initiates various actions. You activateavailability control for a certain budget profile. You can specify one or moretolerance limits for each activity group for a budget profile. Selected actions(warning, warning with mail to person responsible for project, error message)are triggered when these limits are reached.
3.6 Create/Change Planning Profile (cost and revenue planning) (t-code OPSB)
Plan profiles are used, for example, for overall planning for internal orders, hierarchy cost planning for projects or financial budgeting.
3.7 Define Project Coding Mask (t-code OPSJ)
The purpose of thisactivity is to create masks for editing the projectnumber. Masks help display complex project numbers. They can also be used toindicate the position of a WBS element in the project hierarchy. You can createa mask for every key you want to use in project coding.
3.8 Create Project Profile (t-code OPSA)
The project profile contains default values and other control parameters such as the planning method for dates and costs. The data that you enter in the project profile will be copied into a project in its project definition or in the WBS elements, which can later be overwritten.
