Q:Please recommend a hotel for a brief stay in Christchurch in November.

A:We stayed at the Copthorne Christchurch Central. It is a typical tourist hotel. Nothing particular to recommend it except that the location is very good. It is a short walk (2-3 blocks) to Cathedral Square. The street car and the free bus are both less than a block away. Day-tour buses parked out front in the morning. Looked like it was the origin point for most of them.

Overnight then the Copthorne is good, but if you have a more of a budget then the Heritage and Millenium are better.

A:We're staying one night, after landing in CHC at 10:30 am following a very long day of flying.

Leaning towards the Millenium, as it seems nicer than the Copthorne and Crowne Plaza, and might have a higher possibility of getting a room on arrival than the George due to being much larger.

Any other views?
