Q:Thanks to all the help from everyone here, we are very excited about our June trip to Thailand and Cambodia. After spending time in BK with Tong, mahout training at the Anantara outside Chiang Rai and four days in Siem Reap touring temples and visiting schools with Dara, we will be relaxing at a villa that we have rented near Baan Taling on Koh Samui.
We welcome suggestions on where to snorkel -- should we go to Anthong Marine Park or are there more hidden gems -- and any off the beaten path beaches we should discover or restaurants we should try.

Thanks!
A:there is a wonderful restaurant on the main road heading south from charweang (sp)....it is called the cliff or the terrace....it is on the left hand side of the road at the top of a hill....it is excellent...you can't miss it....there is a parking lot out front...

in bophut there are a couple of good restaurants....

on the other side of the island, near to the meridien, there is a restaurant called the five islands....it is really excellent....great for a late afternoon stop to watch the sun go down followed by dinner....right on the beach al fresco...western owned...
A:Hi Amy,

I would suggest two things that we did when we were on Samui two years ago. The first is take a afternoon cooking class with The Blue Banana Cooking School. I read about it in a guide book (www.thaibluebanana.com) and would highly suggest it. Toy is the owner, first he takes you on a tour of his property where he shows you all the herbs and vegetables that grow which you will use to make that days meals. At the end of the class everyone sits on the floor and eats what you all just prepared! It was a great time...I still use the recipe's I learned on that day. (Buy the hand made serving utensils that he sells they are made from coconut shells and are very well made and quite inexpensive)

Also we went snorkeling on the very tiny island of Koh Nangyuan...if you can do this you should. It was the most amazing blue-see-through water I have ever seen in my entire life. The coral was amazing! And the restaurant on the island was actually pertty good! (as is the bar

You may want to hire a driver for a day through the place you are staying. That was a nice way for us to see the 'local' side of Samui.

Have a wonderful time!
A:Thanks for the suggestions! I am going to look up Koh Nangyuan right now,
