Serengeti Accomodation

Q:I will thank anyone who replies to this message first, thanks for taking the time.

Our question is that we will be visiting the Serngeti from the 10th to 15th July this year.

Naturally we wish to see the migration as well as the normal game viewing. We have narrowed our safari operators down to the last couple with the last choice being on the accomodation provided. They are:
2 days at Lobo Wildlife lodge and 3 at Mapito tented camp.
2 days at Lobo and 3 at Kirawira tented lodge.
2 days at Serengeti Serena and 3 at Mbalageti camp.

We have looked at all the accomodation provided and it will all suit us fine, we are here to see the animals not the accomodation.

So put simply what is the best combination of those listed to have the best chance of seeing the migration and the most game during our stay.

Also roughly how long to drive from Mapito tented camp to Kirawira tented camp.

Any comments on the following Safari companies:
Tanzania Adventures.
East African Safaris.
Roys.

I guess thats three questions, not one, so thanks again for taking the time.

Looking forward to a great time in July

A:Hi smiffs..... just checked mapito...looks good... but donnot know any body who has stayed there... best is go to www.go-safari.com all locations in all parts of serengeti, migration movement according to seasons are given there...

july....you should do 2 nights in the western corridor, 2 in the northern and 2 in central serengeti

A:As I posted to another thread, I believe the Lobo area is too early for early July. Yes, the area is lovely and there is resident game, and some of the migrating herds are moving north. However, the north is usually over on the west side of the Serengeti and not east where Lobo is sited. I actually recall a trip report from this past season mentioning "we were too early for this area to catch the migration" (this was mid-July '07).

Of course, from year-to-year there are no guarantees, but I'd be more comfortable with west and central than west and northeast.

Kirawira, Mbalageti, Mbuzi Mawe, Serena Lodge or a seasonal camp as Olakira, EMC or Savannah.
A:Thanks for the responses.

Yes from our readings we believe that Lobo is a little away from the migration, but we felt this might allow us a little breatning space.

Mapito we thought may allow us to be touch further North allowing us a chance to see it no matter where it is.

Thanks

Smiffs
