Here, I'll just be covering a few basics. It's important that you understand these fundamentals before you learn the treatment.
A lot of people think that eating greasy food and a junk filled diet will cause acne. There's much speculation around this. If you eat a slice of pizza, you may get a pimple but it's certainly not because the oil in the pizza is circulating through your pores. Unless you're rubbing the food directly on your skin, potentially blocking the follicles, junk food does not necessarily cause pimples on its own.
Remember, acne is a clogged pore. The clogs are induced by Sebum(oil) blocking a hair follicle and creating an infection. Sebum is the culprit. And Sebum is regulated by our hormones and our skin's pH balance. In many body types, certain junk food can change this balance and in this respect, junk food can make you more vulnerable to acne.
Foods have a direct effect on our hormonal levels and pH balance. That's why it's important to fuel our bodies with elements that won't increase Sebum.
Water is so IMPORTANT in the fight against acne. If you're not drinking 8 glasses of water a day (a glass is considered 8 ounces), you're not doing all you can. When you drink water, you dissolve toxins and Sebum levels in the skin. This in turn decreases bacteria levels in the skin because the bacteria can no longer feed on the oil.
Sugar can increase the likelihood of breakouts due to it's affect on the body's hormonal levels. When you eat a lot of sugars and complex carbohydrates, your body releases hormones to control the level in your bloodstream. The sudden surge of hormones will spike your Sebum production and create acne flareups.
Learning the foods that control your Sebum production is just one aspect of natural acne control for life. During your fight to cure acne, you'll learn that minor changes to your diet will yield tremendous results over time.
