We have Xendesktop 7.1 / Windows 7 VDA running on ESX 5.5. The screen refresh rate is at 30 Hertz on the windows 7 VDA.It is using the generic PnP Monitor and Citrix display driver(see screen shop) How do we get the screen refesh rate to be 60 Hz.

the same virtual desktop connected via the vsphere console shows me 60Hz for the the screen refresh rate. What am I missing here?

Any pointers will help. thanks in advance. - Harry

By default the target frame rate is 30 fbs.

You can set the maximum number of frames per seconds that the virtual desktop will send to the client by a Citrix Policy Setting named Target frame rate. It's possible to maintain a value between 0 and 60.

Note:

By increasing the maximum FPS you can improve the user experience but it will consume more resources and bandwith.

Tried the target frame rate setting, still shows 30.

In the my description in the ctx policy there is a maximum of 30fps definied. Maybe a translation error (using german version)? Or is the maximum allowed fps increased in XenDesktop 7.6? We are still using 7.5.

I'm assisting another customer with similar discrepancy, try this registry tweak:

  • HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Vd3d\VSyncRate
  • (REG_DWORD) value of 60
    • This forces refresh rate from 30 to 60
