Today I went to eBay to take an intern interview. This position attracted me a lot because of elements as follows: international and Internet background company, developing programs. Yesterday I reviewed and reworked my resume and brushed my shoes this morning. Since I had never gone to Zhangjiang, I set out in 1:00 pm, 3 hours in advance. I got the building early, twenty minutes before scheduled time. But the way from subway station of Zhangjiang to the destination cost me quite a lot of time. Afterwards I found that the map I had got was wrong.

After waiting for a moment, a manager started to make a presentation for us. The position I applied for belongs to eBay China Development Center, short for CBC. CBC is the only independent Development Center outside America in eBay. Their upper boss is not eBay China, but eBay.com. From the presentation, I got some interesting information. Lines of codes of eBay.com are almost 5 million. Wow! So crazy! Windows95 is about 10 million lines. I never thought of a web application could be so huge. Furthermore web application is not like traditional desktop application, since you can update any new version to solve problems by just uploading new pages to the servers, while traditional mode is by dispatching new patch. 4 time/day and 5 days/week HTML rolling to the site is eBay's frequency.

After about 1hour's presentation, we were taken to do interview one by one. When my turn came, a pretty girl took me to a room. On the way, we talked a little about the logo of kijiji.com on my T-Shirt. Including that girl, interviewers were two. First question was introducing myself. I talked across the route of the projects I wrote on resume. Then came an IQ question, not too difficult. Then I was asked to talk about the difference between interface and abstract class. I thought the answer depressed them. Maybe thinking my answer not so integrity, the pretty girl asked me if static var could be used in an interface, and I said "no". Shamed……Next question is how to solve the problem of long way to downtown, Zhangjiang. It could be better if I emphasized it not a problem for me. At last, I was asked to wait for about one minute outside. I guess they were viewing my resume. After about two minutes I left eBay. It's hard to say whether I can get this offer. I feel not so optimistic because of the low-grade mistake. The final result will come in a week. Wish a surprise.

Now let me talk about my impression on eBay. Zhangjiang is the eBay China's center base, really a big center. Four floors are rented by eBay. When I was waiting in a room, I found the colors of wall were composed of the colors of eBay's logo, which make the room like a kindergarten.

By today's chance, I find that my oral English is not so bad. My accent is ok, and the lack of ordinary vocabulary is present problem. Practice could solve it. Basic computer knowledge also should be improved. Furthermore, I was convinced firmly to enter a big foreign company on my job-hunting way.

This post is also an experiment. Mak and panda know it, right?

I feel so tired. Zhangjiang is really really far away.
