十问：霍金（随记）

我在这个星球上过着一种非凡的生活，我利用奇思妙想和物理定律穿越宇宙。
我到过银河系的最远处，旅行进入过黑洞，还返回过时间的起点。
在这个地球上，我经历了高峰和低谷、动荡与安宁、成功和痛苦。
我遭遇贫穷，享用富裕，曾经矫健，又身患残疾。
我既受到赞扬，也受到批评，但从未被忽视过。
通过我的研究，我非常荣幸地能够为人类对宇宙的理解做出贡献。
但如果宇宙中不存在我所爱且爱我的人，那的确会是一个空虚的宇宙。
没有他们，它的一切奇迹都对我毫无意义。

I have led an extraordinary life on this planet, while at the same time travelling across the universe by using my mind and the laws of physics.
I have been to the furthest reaches of our galaxy, travelled into a black hole and gone back to the beginning of time.
On Earth, I have experienced highs and lows, turbulence and peace, success and suffering. 
I have been rich and poor, I have been able-bodied and disabled.
I have been praised and criticised, but never ignored.
I have been enormously privileged, through my work, in being able to contribute to our understanding of the universe.
But it would be an empty universe indeed if it were not for the people I love, and who love me.
Without them, the wonder of it all would be lost on me.

 

So remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet.
Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist.
Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.
It matters that you don’t just give up.
Unleash your imagination.
Shape the future.
