install SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1

I encountered problems as follow when install SQL Server 2008 Server Pack 1

1.  SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 and the Invoke or BegionInvoke cannot be called error message

When trying to install SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 to SQL Server 2008 instance that is running on a virtual machine. I receive the following error message:

SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control untile the window handle has been created.

Searching for this issuse,some had success with closing windows or Internet Explorer,but one said these methods do not work for him.  What he did is to make sure that error message dialog is selected and has the focus when it first shows up.

And this worked for me too.

 

2. Windows Poweshell falled .

 In this case , you need to install WindowsXP-KB926140-v5-x86-CHS.exe.

 

.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 must be installed first before install SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1.  Download from Microsoft and its name is

dotnetfx35.exes
