Story Theater
Listen to a conversation between a student and a prefessor of her theater class.
so, prefessor berker, about the our next assignments you talked about in class.
yes, this time you will be in group of three and each of you has will have the a chance to direct the other two in the a short scen for a play you have chosen by yourself.
right, and well, I have been reading a story theater.
uh, story thoather, tell me about what you read.
well, it's a former form of theater where fork or fairy tales are acted out.
It' s introduced by the director blabla in the nineteen sixties.
in sill's approach, an actor both narrates, and acts out a tale.
so, like someone will appeare on the stage, and then will start narrating a tale, still not married in the tale, about seen say a king. and then the same person will immediately switched to rule the role of the king, with on propose props or and scenery.
sally. you know actually I saw frst story production in 1969, he did a fairtyle with the blue light.
really, so what are whatever gave him the idea to produce that your given idea to introduce me that?
well, as you know, back to late 1960s, lots of people in the United States were dislution disillusioned with the government.
sallys was groping grappling with how to develop produce theater that was with relevant in such time.
then i happend to read, the blue light and lines he realized that it had are just the one he wanted.
see in the story a man has lost his all hope because as a result of unfortunate divensing events of his life, competely turns his life around with the help of magical blue light.
so the blue light in the story symoblize a way out and seemingly unsovleabel human problems.
untro and for sallys that light symbolize answer to pratical term turmoil well in US.
but aren't you audience bother that the actors were performing you on the bare stage?
well, story theater is different departure from traditinal drama theater with its realistic elabrate props and scenery, and salls could make us see what, see big town, moutains through facial expressions, and body movement in the actor, they are telling the story.
we were all sweeped up, energized by such an innovative approach to theater, even if one or two of the critics weren't as enthusiastic.anajid by such prcess to the theater, even if one .
cool, so anyway
so what are you really want to ask? i'd like to take story theater for my project instead of just seeing from the traditional play.
umm, that's possible
short tale can be about the sigle line length about the sigle sceen.
which fari tale would you do
actually, i was reading about another movie theater,
you know, he produced a place on a fork tale as well.
maybe i can direct one of those. what are those.
okay, yes, name.
now, people 2 direct theater a little different from people1.
he will use simple propose props to cheer the reprenset mountain, but the significant difference with the the narrator.
the narrator theater will only play that role
let's talk about why.
