Preface

No matter for beginners or for guru, Effective Series, including Effective C++, More Effective C++, and Effective STL, written by Scott Meyers, can be not only a source of technical headspring, but also a literary joy. It is a really magical series, unlike other books of similar topic, you can pick up it from any page of any one of the three books and you can read it in any mood. Scott is not only a master of C++ but also a master of language art. He brings us an open view to a world of not only C++ but also of great form of being easy to convey the comprehension of it. So, for a pretty long time I was hesitating about the necessity of writing any extra comment on the series. I am afraid indeed what I am doing here is just a misleading. However, after about four years spending on the series, I feel it is high time to write something. The people are being fickler, and fewer people would like to read a thick book once and again to obtain its complete fruit, let alone three of them. Being a reader and also a guy who is also insterested in the programming field, I feel it somehow guilty not to share what I got from the reading, which is conformed to the "programmer's spirit". And the coming articles are what I decide to bring to you all.

The articles are under the name Effective Series Syrup Squeezer, which reflects its original meaning. What it is squeezing is the items in the Effective Series, and the magazine articles provided by Scott Meyers in the Effective C++/More Effective C++ CD. The articles are talking about the same thing that has already been discussed in the text of the Effective Series. But I will rewrite it in a much more direct and clear form, and will filter out most of the literary decorations, adding some of my own comprehension after reading the items, and some analysis different from the series.

I hope you all will like it. If anything you see here you consider it incorrect or not in its best form, please feel free to write to: errata.feedback@gmail.com, I appreciate all your help. Although I am extremely busy working everyday, but I believe that half an hour a day and at least 5 days a week will produce a great project. Thanks to the encouragement from my friends all over the world, without you all, nothing here is possible.
