经典版《奇异恩典》歌词写作背景：
这首诗歌是约翰牛顿（John Newton）的得救见证。他过去曾经贩卖黑奴，无恶不作；后来在一次暴风雨的海上，他蒙神拯救，于是痛改前非，奉献一生，宣扬基督福音，后成为十八世纪伟大的传道人。去世之前他为自己写了墓志铭，碑上记着：我从前诗歌为非作歹，不信神的人，但因着救主耶稣基督的怜悯，得蒙救赎，罪得赦免，与神和好，并一生奉差遣传扬耶稣基督宝贵的救恩。
这首诗歌已经流传将近百年，得救后的感恩、喜乐与甘甜，洋溢玉字里行间，经久不衰，感动了许多人。
