SQL 2005 CTP 递交公开测试人员

SQL Server 2005 Beta Testers -

As part of the company's efforts to work more closely with you during the product development cycle, the SQL Server team has made the decision to release Community Technical Previews for SQL Server 2005 starting today. The SQL Server 2005 Community Technical Preview (CTP) are interim builds of SQL Server 2005 between major betas that will enable you to test and experiment with new features as they are added to the product without having to wait for the next beta. Your involvement during the development cycle will ensure that we ship a better product.

The decision to release a CTP build for SQL Server 2005 was based on the successes of a limited community drop during SQL Server 2005 Beta 1 and the Visual Studio 2005 CTP program. We may provide additional CTPs before Beta 3 to gather additional feedback prior to our next beta. While the CTP is not a formal beta release, it provides you with an opportunity to preview changes coming in Beta 3 and to provide the development team with feedback. We value this continuous feedback greatly as it enables us to ship a higher quality release in the end.

The Developer Edition of the SQL Server 2005 CTP is available to you today on Betaplace and will be available to MSDN Universal, Enterprise, and Professional subscribers through the MSDN Subscriber Downloads site within one or two weeks. When you download the CTP, you'll notice several improvements, which were based on your feedback from Beta 2. The SQL Server 2005 CTP includes quality and performance enhancements that were not included in Beta 2. You'll see enhancements and refinements to the user interfaces for the management tools and continued improvement on the overall end to end user experience.

We're making great progress on SQL Server 2005 and we're on track to deliver a solid Beta 3 in Q1 and the final release next summer. However, the delivery will depend on many factors including:

  • Customer and partner feedback
  • Successful external customer deployments
  • Successful internal Microsoft IT deployments. We already have 20 applications in production at Microsoft including our full SAP, payroll, and document repository systems. We plan to put another 30 applications into production before final RTM.

We've been impressed by the feedback we've received from Beta 1 and Beta 2. With your continued support and feedback SQL Server 2005 will be our best release ever!

Thanks and let the feedback begin.
