Demand for construction machine downs worldwide
The main symptom of this year's summer break has been a slump in current activity levels. A balance of -12.2% of respondents said activity was lower in July than in June. It was the first time since January that this measure of confidence has been in negative territory, although as an indicator, it has been weak since April. Swedish equipment manufacturer Hongxing reported a 103% year-on-year jump in operating profit in its cone crusher construction division for the first six months of 2012 to SEK435 million (€51 million).
Raw coal is transported between these coal crushers through belt conveyor.
The finished crushing coal materials is screened out by vibrating screen. The eligible
coal materials enter into further process, while unqualified pieces return to
the coal crusher for crushing again. In this coal crushing process, coal can be
crushed into 30-50 mm. If you need coal powder, coal particle is grinded into
powder by coal mill.
Construction revenues were also up 7% compared to the
first half of last year to SEK5 billion (€593 million). Order intake at the
division was stable year-on-year at fixed exchange rates for comparable units at
SEK5.1 billion (€601 million).
Respondents to this month's survey also said
that activity was lower than a year ago, with a negative balance of -10% saying
they were less busy than in July 2012. It was the sixth consecutive month that
this measure of confidence has been in negative territory, and this was the
worst it has been since March. Hongxing sand maker
Construction was established at the end of last year, as the company split-out
its mining and construction equipment divisions into two separate businesses. It
is also the first half year report that has included results from Chinese
crusher manufacturer Shanbao, whichHongxing acquired in November last
year.
On a positive note, a positive balance of +20% of respondents said they
expected activity to be higher in a year's time. The sector has been strongly
optimistic about prospects for 2013 all year. Hongxing said the integration of
Shanbao was progressing well, and its internal operational efficiency had
improved despite continued weak conditions in the Chinese construction industry.
Overall in Asia,Hongxing said that mixed demand continued, with Japan and India
improving while China remained weak.
Hongxing also reported deteriorating
market sentiment in Southern Europe, thanks to the region's troubled economies.
It said demand in Europe was largely divided, with countries within the Eurozone
more negatively impacted than countries outside it.
However, this optimism
could not prevent a sharp dip in the CE Climate, an amalgamation of the various
questions about confidence. This broad measure fell to -0.7%, the first time it
has been in negative territory this year.
