Hello, everyone! The topic of my speech today is "What programming gives to me". As one of the most important things during my school years, it has had a profound impact to my life.
Firstly, programming brings me a lot of knowledge. I started programming from a simple question: how computers work. Then in the following years, I continuously deepen my understanding of this issue. I have learnt a large number of algorithms, which always amaze me with their ingenious ideas. In this field where old wisdom meets new innovation, I improve myself to be a more knowledgeable person.
Secondly, programming gives me a fresh insight about the world. Imagine that you are walking down the road. You may wonder how to arrange the position of trees on the roadside, or how to design the cycle changes of traffic lights. And you will find that all of these can be solved through programming - that's so interesting! Until now, I still enjoy solving problems in life by programming methods. This perspective has not only enriched my understanding of technology, but also influenced how I approach challenges in other areas of life.
Lastly, programming teaches me the values of caution and patience. When you are programming, any tiny mistake could lead to a complete error. For example, if I need to compare whether two numbers are equal, I should use two equals sign. But once I used only one, in a rather complex code, and I spent two hour correcting it. Experiences like this tell me the importance of attention to detail. What's more, the patience required to debug and refine a piece of code always reminds me that success often comes after many attempts, and that's okay. Now caution and patience have already spilled over into other areas of my life.
In conclusion, programming is more than a skill; it's a way of thinking, a way of life. It has expanded my horizons, challenged my mind, and shaped my character. I'm grateful for this journey, and I eagerly anticipate where the next line of code will lead me.
Thank you for listening.
