As promised, here's a thread for instructions on adding back HTCFootprints into MikG, for those of us that like it (this includes mywife, which is the real reason I had to figure this out
).
This method is a bit involved, only because I'm trying to allow as muchas possible to be installed on /data rather than /system, since I'drather not slow it down by reducing the space on system with deodexedAPKs. I did try tommy's script to odex the Locations apk, but it didn'twork
.
So, in addition to instructions on how to re-add Footprints to the ROM,I have a bonus - HTC Locations! The Shift ROM doesn't actually comewith it, but I was able to acquire the files from a Sense 2.1 ROM thatdoes, and got it working. There are a few things to note about thedifference between Footprints & Locations:
- Footprints is a standalone app that doesn't require Locations
- Locations includes Footprints, so the Footprints app doesn't need to be installed if you prefer to use Locations
- Both apps use the same lib files, though Locations includes 1 additional lib file
Ok, now that that's all out of the way, let get down to business!
HTC Footprints - Installation Instructions
(originally posted on XDA here)
- Download Footprints_system_files.zip
- Rebootinto Recovery, and flash the zip file file. This will install the libfiles necessary for Footprints to work. Once complete, reboot thedevice.
- Download HtcFootprints.apk. Once downloaded, install the APK.
- Download HtcFootprintsWidget.apk. Once downloaded, install the APK.
- Done!
Youcan install the APKs in any order, but they won't work unless the libfiles are already in the /system/lib folder, which is what the zip filedoes for you.
Beloware the instructions for installing HTC Locations (which you'll note,are going to be very similar to the above instructions, just withdifferent files
)
