It has five editions and each of them has a recommended environment.

  1. Web Edition

It is designed to be used as a Web Server. Computers running the Web Edition can be members of an Active Directory domain, but you cannot run Active Directory on the Web Edition.

  1. Standard Edition

It is a reliable network OS that allows you to deliver business solutions quickly and easily. It is an ideal OS for small businesses and departments. You should use this Edition if your server does not need the increased hardware support and clustering features of the Enterprise Edition.

  1. Enterprise Edition

It has all the features of the Standard Edition but has extra features that enhance availability, scalability, and dependability. The Enterprise Edition suits medium to large businesses. This OS is recommended for applications, XML Web Services, and infrastructure.

  1. Datacenter Edition

It is designed for business-critical and mission-critical applications that must have high levels of scalability and availability. The Datacenter Edition and the Enterprise Edition are similar, but the Datacenter Edition supports more powerful multiprocessing and greater memory.

  1. 64-Bit Version Edition
