GitBook was created in the middle of 2014 with the vision of creating a modern and simple solution to digital writing and publishing.

We are a team of two, building an open source book format along with a toolchain of simple but powerful tools built around the format.

The philosophy is to be simple to the point of elegance, removing distractions and concerns from authors, so that they can write freely.

GitBook.com lets you write, publish and manage your books online as a service. Since May 2014, we have helped authors, scientists and politicians publish more than 6700 books.
