1.  pall

    A pall fell over the group when they realized they may go to gail.

    (something (such as a cloud of smoke) that covers a place and makes it dark)

 

2.  quixotic

    Quixotic Don Quixote loved impossible challenges, and found magic and romance in everyday things.

    (hopeful or romantic in a way that is not practical)

 

3.  ameliorate

    We are handing out free food to try to ameliorate the lives of the poor.

    (to make (something, such as a problem) better, less painful, etc. )

 

4.  gobble 

    Don't gobble your food! You might choke yourself!

    (to swallow or eat (something) quickly )
