Instructions

To install Windows Management Framework 3.0:

  1. Download the correct package for your operating system and architecture    
    • Windows 7 Service Pack 1      
      • 64-bit versions: WINDOWS6.1-KB2506143-x64.MSU
      • 32-bit versions: WINDOWS6.1-KB2506143-x86.MSU
    • Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1       
      • 64-bit versions: WINDOWS6.1-KB2506143-x64.MSU
    • Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2      
      • 64-bit versions: WINDOWS6.0-KB2506146-x64.MSU
      • 32-bit versions: WINDOWS6.0-KB2506146-x86.MSU
  2. Close all Windows PowerShell windows.
  3. Uninstall any other versions of Windows Management Framework 3.0.
  4. Run the MSU file that you downloaded.

To uninstall Windows Management Framework 3.0:
Locate and uninstall the following installed Windows Update:
  • KB2506143 - for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
  • KB2506146 - for Windows Server 2008 SP2

    To prepare for installation of Windows Management Framework 4.0:
    1. Download the correct package for your operating system and architecture. The following architectures are supported.
      • Windows 7 SP1
        • x64: Windows6.1-KB2819745-x64-MultiPkg.msu
        • x86: Windows6.1-KB2819745-x86.msu
      • Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
        • x64: Windows6.1-KB2819745-x64-MultiPkg.msu
      • Windows Server 2012
        • x64: Windows8-RT-KB2799888-x64.msu
    2. Close all Windows PowerShell windows.
    3. Uninstall any other copies of Windows Management Framework 4.0, including any prerelease copies or copies in other languages.
