状语从句的省略

条件

在表示时间、条件、让步、方式等状语从句中，如果谓语动词含有 be 动词，且从句主语是 it 或主从句主语一致，那么可以将从句的主语和 be 动词一起省略。

-例句
The experiment shows that proper amounts of exercise, if (it is) carried out regularly, can improve our health.
实验表明，如果有规律地进行适量的运动，会改善我们的健康状况。（条件状从的省略）
Film has a much shorter history, especially when (it is) compared to such art forms as music and paingtings.
电影的历史要短得多，尤其是在和音乐和绘画这类艺术形式做比较的时候。（时间状从的省略）
There are some health problem that, when (they are) not treated in time, can become bigger ones later on.
如果这些健康问题不及时治疗，过后可能会变成更严重的问题。（条件状从的省略）
He opened the drawer, as if (he was) in search of somthing important.
他拉开了抽屉，仿佛他在寻找一些重要的东西。（方式状从的省略）
Though (it is) cold, he still waers a shirt.
天气虽然冷，他还是只穿了一件衬衫（让步状从的省略）


as 引导时间状语从句，其后不能省略。可以用when, while 代替。

-例句
(x) As talking, she brust into tears.
(√) When/While talking, she brust into tears.

if possible/necessary/so

if possible/necessary/so 中可以省略 it is.
If (it is) necessary, please call me.
如果有必要，请给我打电话。

其他

1）有些句子中，状语从句中尽管与主语不一致，但是如果根据主从句对应关系判断意思比较明确，同时谓语动词有含有 be 动词

-例句
We all expect to live where (the place is) not polluted.
我们都希望生活在没有污染的地方。

2）如果主、从句都含有 there be 的某种形式，或只有状语从句含有 there be 的某种形式从句的 there be 可以省略。

-例句
We shouldn't lose heart as long as (there is) any hope with us.只要有一线希望，我们就不能灰心。
