让步状语从句

用法

做让步状语
笔者的话：就类似于“退一步说...”“虽然...”“尽管...”，感觉像是转折？

连接词

though, although, as, even if, even though, no matter what/who/which/how/when, whatever, whichever, whoever, however, whenever, while等

要点

though, although

although 和 though 用法基本一样，不可以与 but 连用，但是可以和 yet, still, nevertheless 连用。
though 可以做副词单独置于句末，用逗号隔开。

-例句
I don't really like the author, but I have to admit his books are very exciting.
虽然我不得不承认他的书让人振奋，但是我真的不喜欢这位作家。
Frank insisted that he was not asleep although I had great diffculty in waking him up.
尽管我费了好大劲才把F弄醒，他却坚持说自己没有睡着。

as, though

as 引导让步状语从句从句部分用部分倒装（though也可）。

1）形容词/副词 + as + 主语 + 谓语
Much as I like it, I won't buy it, for it's too expensive.
虽然我很喜欢它，但是我不会买它，因为它太贵了。

2）名词（不带冠词） + as + 主语 + 谓语
Child as he is, the boy knows a lot.
尽管还是个孩子，但这个男孩懂得很多。

3）动词（原形） + as + 主语 + 情态动词/助动词
Lose money as I did, we got a lot of experience.
钱虽然丢了，我们却得到了许多经验。
Try as I might, I couldn't lift the stone.
尽管我试了，但还是搬不动那块石头。

4）though倒装结构同as
Bravely though the players fought, they had no chance of winning.
尽管运动员们都非常勇敢地拼搏，他们仍然没有机会取胜。

笔者的话：感觉这种表达非常有意思，而且在一定程度上可以强调？

even if, even though

意为“尽管；即便；即使”，其引导的让步状语从句与其更强烈，既可以用陈述语气，也可以用虚拟语气。

-例句
Even though I am open-minded, I can't expect all our customers are.
尽管我很开明，但是我们不能期望我们所有的客户都这样。
Even if I were busy, I would go.
即使我很忙，我也会去。
Even if he had been ill, he would have gone to his office.
即使他生病了，他也会去办公室。

疑问词 + ever, no matter + 疑问词

疑问词 + ever = no matter + 疑问词

-例句
Whatever / No matter what happened, he would not mind.
无论发生什么他都不会介意。

while

while也可以引导让步状语从句，意为“虽然，尽管”，一般位于句首。

-例句
While all of them are strong candidates, only one will be chosen for the post.
虽然他们都是很强的候选人，但是只有一个人会被选来担任这个职位。
While you can't turn back the clock, you can take control of your life.
虽然你不能使时钟倒转，但是你可以掌控自己的生活。
