Location Profile

Location Profile is used in OCS 2007 R2 but no longer used in Lync 2010, instead Dial Plan is used.

We need Location Profiles in order to traslate extension number to E.164 number. It generates  a +<E.164> format number.A Location Profile is a set of regular expressions that will be applied on a called party number that is not in +<E.164> format. In General all called party numbers will be normalized to +<E.164> format before being processed by OCS to match a user SIP URI to this +<E.164> number or to pass it on to one of the OCS Mediation Servers.

dialing process:

1. clientA intials a call using non E.164 number.

2. Translation application of OCS normalizes the number to E.164.

3. OCS RNL(Reverse Number Lookup) to match a user SIP to this E.164.

4. i>If RNL sucesses, a SIP INVITE will send the distination SIP URI.

ii>If RNL fails, the number will be sent to remote user or federated enterprise through mediation server and edge server.
