Job Description:

Come lead the way in developing Linux, Unix, and Open Source Software (OSS) capabilities for Windows Server and Windows Azure, Microsoft’s public cloud offering. While Windows Server plays a huge role with enterprise and hoster customers, they also use Linux, Unix, and OSS. They want one Cloud OS, and one management system, that can handle all these operating systems and software environments.

At Microsoft Shanghai Open Source Technology Center (OSTC), we develop the features and functions that ensure Windows Azure and Windows Server can run and manage Linux/Unix VMs as adeptly and efficiently as Microsoft operating systems. We also support open-source framework on the Windows Azure platform to ensure that developers can use familiar applications & tools while taking advantage of the benefits that the Windows Azure platform provides. If you’ve wanted to use your Linux/Unix/OSS product development skills in a Microsoft context, this is your opportunity!

We’re looking for an experienced software development engineer (SDE) to take charge of one or more areas of the development and support of Microsoft’s Linux in Windows Azure strategy. You will work with the team to develop the very critical components, such as kernel drivers, to ensure Linux/Unix perform well on Microsoft platform. You will also have chance to help the customers and the community to troubleshoot / optimize the experience of Linux/Unix, as well as other OSS, running in private and public Cloud.

This position requires strong coding skills and rich experience in developing and shipping enterprise software and services. You should have a passion for customers, excellent communications skills, and good teamwork style, as well as meeting below qualifications:

  7+ years’ experience of software development

  A BS/MS/PhD degree in Computer Science or relevant majors

  Industrial experience in large-scale software development project and shipping high quality products in multiple full release cycles

  Industrial experience of development on Linux kernel and/or drivers development is a MUST

  Development experience with IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and virtualization technologies, such as Hyper-V and KVM, is a strong plus

  Strong coding skills and algorithm, understand best practices and patterns in modern software development, good test mindset

  Professional English in oral and writing is must; mandarin Chinese is preferred

This position is located in Shanghai, China. You will have the chance to bring the world-class services to Chinese customers, and experience in relevant Chinese markets is a plus.
