转:DotNetNuke Community Forums

“As we settle in to 2006, I would like to communicate some information which affects the DotNetNuke commmunity and specifically users of this discussion forum.

Due to the constant moderation and traffic burden that the DotNetNuke Forum places on the www.asp.net website, Telligent Systems has recently suggested that we consider migrating our community to a dedicated Forum installation. They have even graciously offered to provide a free, hosted instance of their Community Server application ( ie. dnnforums.asp.net ) which would satisfy our community discussion requirements and provide us with administrative rights over the management of the forums ( something we do not have today ).

Although this is a kind offer we feel that if we must move our Forum from its current home on www.asp.net, there are far more community benefits if we migrate to the www.dotnetnuke.com website - since it is the true epicenter of the DotNetNuke community. In fact, we have been contemplating this change for quite some time but wanted to be sure that our infrastructure could handle the additional load. With the most recent version of the DNN Forums, I think we are finally in a position to make this a reality.

The unfortunate consequence of any migration is that forum statistics can not be preserved. This means that long-time DotNetNuke community members will need to work towards establishing their public profile on the dotnetnuke.com site in terms of Post counts, etc... Since forum activity is a tangible community metric, we contacted the folks at Microsoft to determine if they would be willing to consider participation on the www.dotnetnuke.com website as criteria for general ASP.NET community involvement ( ie. for Microsoft MVP consideration ). Earlier this week we received an acknowledgement from Microsoft that they will honor this request as long as we can provide the necessary information. This is excellent news for DotNetNuke community members and we wish to thank Microsoft for their consideration in this matter.

The migration is not going to happen immediately. It will take some time to coordinate the various tasks involved. Therefore, these Forums will remain active in the short-term and there will be no restrictions on your ability to post or actively participate. However after the migration is complete, these forums will become inactive and the information will only be available in a read-only capacity.
