The Lighthouse in My Youth: My High School Headteacher

In the gallery of my memory, my high school headteacher, Mr. Yuan, stands out as a figure of profound influence.
During my sophomore year of high school, I hit a rough patch in my studies. No matter how hard I tried, my grades failed to improve. I was drowning in self - doubt. Mr. Yuan noticed my struggle. One afternoon, he asked me to stay after class. Instead of scolding me for my poor performance, he sat down beside me, his eyes full of kindness and understanding.
He then shared his own story of facing academic setbacks in college. He told me how he had failed an important exam that could have derailed his future plans. But instead of giving up, he analyzed his mistakes, adjusted his study methods, and worked tirelessly. His story was like a ray of sunlight piercing through the thick clouds of my despair.
Mr. Zhang didn't just tell me his story; he showed me his determination through his calm and confident demeanor. He helped me break down my study tasks, taught me effective time management skills, and even recommended some useful reference books.
Over the next few months, with his guidance, my grades started to improve, and more importantly, my confidence was restored. Mr. Zhang didn't just help me with my studies; he taught me the invaluable lesson that setbacks are not the end but a chance for growth. His influence extended far beyond the classroom, shaping my approach to challenges in all aspects of life. Even now, whenever I face difficulties, I can still hear his words of encouragement, and his example continues to inspire me to persevere.
