码农品英诗系列（2） 直指人性深处的《去冒险》

    要说美国演说家利奥•布斯卡利亚博士的诗《去冒险》有什么优点，很多，我只想说：痛快淋漓、直指人性。冒险，人之本性。古今中外，因此种本性的极致发挥而成为“家”的不可胜数，麦哲伦，李时珍，海伦凯勒，杨利伟。且不说那些惊天动地之举，我们日常生活的“试试看、争取一下”就是冒险的表现形式，有谁会过滤一切“试试看”的决策，走四平八稳的人生道路吗？有谁总是只做知道结果的事情，连个小冒险都没有？人之所以要冒险，在于天意的不可把控，竞赛能否获奖，论文能否投中，嫁人是否幸福，疾病可否治愈，统统有天意的安排。敬畏天意，你与上天没有交易，没有谈判。你只要去做，结果唯有听候。

    听利奥的话，义无反顾地做你该做的一切。To risk吧，否则，nothing。        （胡明晓）

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk being called sentimental.
To reach out to another is to risk involvement.
To expose feelings is to risk showing your true self.
To place your ideas and your dreams before others
is to risk being called naïve.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair,
And to try is to risk failure.

 

But risks must be taken,
Because the greatest hazard in life
is to risk nothing.
The person, who risks nothing, does nothing,
Has nothing, is nothing and becomes nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow,
But he simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow and love.
Chained by his certitudes, he is a slave,
And he has forfeited his freedom.
Only the person who risks is truly free.
