Question regarding sending mail to new friends in Vietnam

Q:We met and became friends with a family while visiting Hue this spring. I took a bunch of photos and want to send them a package including these photos. I would also like to enclose some sort of gift from the US to thank them for their hospitality. It seems there is little info on what can and can't be sent and what will be confiscated or cause the package to be "lost" Any suggestions or info would be appreciated. Thanks
A:I don't think there is a problem sending packages. With all the Gucci and LV stores, I doubt much is being "confiscated." Just don't put in anything that is normally confiscated by any country. Put "gift" on the outside with a very low value. The do a huge amount of "registered" mail in Vietnam, so if you can register it for a reasonable cost, the do so.

I found this site that has some information on the post office system, weights etc. It might help you: http://www.vietnamopentour.com/english_info/post-and-telecom.htm

I've had many thing sent to me from Vietnam and they have gotten here faster than from California. So the mail works without issue this direction.
A:Don't put anything of great value (or perceived high value) in the package or else your friends most likely will be charged duty when they pick it up. I've had to pay 100,000 VND just for a CD delivered to me in VN.
A:Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I will keep it to photos.
